I'm just starting out with robotics as a hobby, so I'm working with conventional, processor-oriented designs, and will probably continue to do so. But, eventually, I would like to explore BEAM robotics (see http://solarbotics.ne... for more on BEAM). This is because I am mostly interested in the concepts of autonomy, distributed intelligence, swarming/flocking behavior, pervasive computing, and self-organizing systems.

I am also interested in robots that can reconfigure themselves as needed, or that can combine to form new functions automatically.

Perhaps TMARS could pursue a project that would involve BEAM technology or cooperative behavior between multiple robots.

What kind of robots are *you* interested in?

I currently have a MarkIII from the Portland robotics group that I have added a piggyback to. The piggyback has some indicators to shoe the line sensors state as well as the forward looking IR object detector(2) states. It is PIC based and I have written the code in C to get it to follow a line and another program to search for and push an object out of a ring. I'm slow as cold molasses getting that sort of thing working but am having fun doing it.
