Here is the parts list for Mousey the JunkBot using Dustins modified circuit or the original and what parts we currently have donated. If you have any parts you are willing to donate please post it here and I will update this list accordingly. If you need any parts check the list to see if it is donated.

I have a lot of NPN and even more PNP transistors, so we are covered there. (10 to 15 minimum off the top of my head)
1K and 10K's are also covered by me. (whole bag of 'em, at least 20 of each) I could bring four or five of the 100uF caps, and a couple battery clips, along with two or three extra green LED's. Also, we do not have to use the lever snap action switches (not to sound snooty, but they are called microswitches, after the company that made them popular), we could use push buttons, which I have a lot of, or we could use simple wire-on-wire bumpers. I'm also gonna bring a few 8-pin IC sockets, for those of us who know better ;) As for toggle switches (presumably the power switch), I think I have an extra... I'd have to check my junk box. We also need a list for tools we are bringing: glue guns, soldering irons, bandaids, et cetera et ad nauseum malus. |

Dustin,
Thanks for volunteering so much. I updated the list. Patrick |

Since we are now on tools:
I will bring my only soldering iron, and two glue guns with a bag of extra glue sticks. As for solder, I only have enough for myself, maybe another person, but that's it.... I can't remember if I mentioned it before, but I have a lot of stiff, solid-core copper wire; slightly hard to solder(waaaaay easier than paper clips), but absolutely perfect structural material for small robots. Oh, and I have three or four basic multimeters. We probably only need a couple for the group, as they take up room, and we'll only need them to test the eyes, or erroneous bots. (an oscilloscope would be kinda overkill, but I'm not arguing against it! ) Also, I have a couple of extra mice, maybe three? EDIT: In addition, does anyone want me to bring my semi-large diameter stranded core wire (from a microwave)? If someone else has enough wire, I won't have to bring that overly thick stuff. ie, I'm short on wire. Edited by Unit042 on Mar 11, 2009 11:40 AM |

Updated. Also note the Relays came in today. Dustin, I think we will be ok on wire.

Mmmkay.
My IR LED's busted, so my breadboarded vacuum bot headlight circuit will have to wait for a trip to Radio Shack. Meanwhile, I'm getting my BS2 board y'all gave me. I'm going to attempt to use it for serial communication. Hopefully, I won't die of baudrate calculations..... |

I can go get some glue sticks for the glue gun. At least a bit of donation from Mr. Kevin
![]() Oh, I can bring my helping hands tool with a base for the soldering iron and it has a built in LED light that I got from Harbor Freight for $4.99. It works very well and was use to super glue some parts back together. See you all tomorrow. I bought a cheap Multimeter, some glue sticks, and a wire stripper from Harbor Freight. Turns out I will be able to come. I won't be building a mousey, but I'll bring whatever additional stuff I can. Soldering things, braid, flux, etc...

After the meeting, I went through my stuff and found I'm missing my bag of 10k resistors!
And, I had a bunch of yellow LED's, one red one, and some green ones taped on a strip of carboard; whose are those? Also, next time, we could try a simpler robot: http://www.youtube.co... It's a tutorial (step by step) on how to build one. (The original idea was invented by insectroids.com, I think) Here is a video on how to make the mousebot: http://www.youtube.co... (from the solarbotics.com's kit, but it might help the rest of us....) |
